Val's Suggestions

In various Financial Modeling exercises, Val (Vibz's AI assistant) suggests items likely to be part of your business, based on what you've already filled out in the rest of the plan – but she never adds anything on her own.

What it's for

Filling out every investment, expense, funding source, or position from scratch can be time-consuming, and it's easy to forget something obvious (like rent or card machine fees). Val looks at what you've already defined – your Lean Canvas, your products and services, your channels – and suggests coherent financial entries, complete with estimated values and recurrence.

Where it appears

This is the same interface pattern across various Financial Modeling exercises: Necessary Investments, Funding Sources, Expenses, and Personnel. Suggestions appear in a prominent banner above the main exercise list, as soon as there's enough context in the plan to generate them.

How to use it

Each suggestion is a card with a name, estimated value, and recurrence (one-time or recurring, with a period). The banner text is always the same disclaimer: "Review before incorporating – nothing enters the plan without your confirmation." For each suggestion, you choose:

  • Review and Add – brings the item into your plan; you can still edit it later, like any manual entry.

  • Discard (the "x" on the card) – removes the suggestion without adding anything.

No suggestion is automatically added until you click "Review and Add" – even if you navigate to another page, unconfirmed suggestions simply won't appear later (they can be generated again based on the updated state of the plan).

Tips

  • Treat each suggestion as a draft, not a definitive value – the values are estimates based on market patterns, not a real quote for your business.

  • Don't ignore suggestions just because they "seem obvious" – they often catch items that are genuinely easy to forget in the rush of putting together a plan.

  • If the suggestions seem generic or out of touch with your business's reality, review whether your Lean Canvas and Products/Services are well-detailed – the quality of the suggestions directly depends on the context Val has available.
