It looks finished, but it isn't: the risks of a business plan written only with ChatGPT
Why thirty-second prompts create convincing but financially fragile documents — and how the Vibz methodology delivers real coherence.
The trap of the “thirty-second plan”
Generative AI tools like ChatGPT can write a complete business plan in under a minute: executive summary, market analysis, SWOT matrix and financial projections. The text reads polished, well formatted and professional.
That is exactly where the danger lies. Presenting such a document to a bank, to an investor, or using it to commit a lifetime of savings creates a false sense of safety. Generic AI knows how to structure headings, but it does not know how to audit the mathematical and operational consistency of a business.
The 4 critical failures of plans generated by ChatGPT
These are not writing errors. They are structural errors — and they only surface when somebody checks the numbers.
- 1
Silent mathematical incoherence
The AI describes start-up costs of US$ 15,000 in one chapter and projects cash outflows twice that size in another. It produces numbers that sound reasonable in isolation but never speak to each other in the income statement or in working capital.
- 2
Shallow research dressed as authority
The document lists neighbourhoods, audiences or trends without grounding footfall data, regional average ticket or direct competition. Saying your edge is “quality, service and fair pricing” without mapping who else is chasing the same customer is not strategy; it is filling space.
- 3
Evasive language (“perhaps”, “if needed”)
Language models avoid commitment with phrases like “if desired” or “could be considered”. A real business plan demands firm decisions. Banks and partners assess technical conviction, not hesitation.
- 4
No logical chain
Having the right headings is not the same as having an integrated model. Listing low fixed costs as a strength and a lean team as a weakness without connecting either to the operating flow produces a work of fiction, not an executable plan.
The incoherence nobody sees until the bank does
Chapter 3 — Initial investment
US$ 15,000
“The estimated initial investment is US$ 15,000, covering equipment, renovation and working capital.”
Chapter 7 — Month 1 cash outflows
US$ 31,400
The sum of the first month's outflows in the spreadsheet generated by the same AI, in the same document.
Unreconciled difference
US$ 16,400
The two numbers describe the same moment in the business and differ by US$ 16,400. Before going further, the initial investment has to be reconciled with the cash flow — or the first month's capital requirement is understated by more than 100%.
An illustrative example of a pattern that recurs in plans generated by generalist AI.

Critical audit
Generic generative AI
Does not question assumptions — it answers what was asked, in the format asked.
The Vibz ecosystem
Val challenges weak hypotheses and issues technical assessments.
Practical application
Generic generative AI

A structured journey, from start to finish
A methodology with 20+ years of practical application
Vibz does not hand you a form to fill in. It guides you through every stage of planning, with practical guidance, context and applicable examples, so that no important decision is left out.

Financial projections without complications
Results, cash flow and investment analysis
You do not have to build formulas or wrestle with spreadsheets. Vibz calculates income forecasts, cash flow projections and detailed investment analysis from the assumptions you set — and keeps everything connected, so changing a number at one stage recalculates the rest. That chain is exactly what a plan written by generalist AI is missing.

Export your plan and present your business with professionalism
Business plan and pitch deck generated automatically
Export your complete business plan to Word or your financial projections to Excel with one click. Generate your pitch deck too, ready to share with partners, investors or to guide your own strategy. What you built along the journey becomes professional documents, with no rework.

From draft to safe execution
To be fair
ChatGPT is excellent for organising first ideas and accelerating the starting point.
Even so, the distance between a text that looks finished and a viable business plan lies in method and critical judgement.
With Vibz you get the speed of AI guided by 20 years of consulting, so that every number, process and target stands up before the real investment.
